Survey Results: Early Impacts of MiFID II
AIRA Member Survey Results: Early Impacts of MiFID II on Investor Relations Activities and Sell-Side Research Coverage
The introduction of the MiFID II financial regulations across Europe early in January 2018 is having a broad impact, as widely anticipated, on the way listed entities in Australia and New Zealand engage with shareholders and the broader investment community. The regulation does not directly apply here or in parts of the world outside Europe. But it effectively restricts long-standing and effective engagement practices including roadshows, sell-side research and consensus earnings estimates in all financial markets because of the increasingly global nature of equity ownership. It is too early to determine the full magnitude of the changes at this early stage, but there are indications of significant changes occurring in the way investor relations is undertaken.
